Rectangular cardboard display board mounted with a poster entitled, "Outstanding Black Americans of the Past". The poster has color drawings of eleven African Americans, some with contextual details of their achievements. On the left side of the poster are short biographies. The drawings and biographies are of the following: Benjamin Banneker, Phillis Wheatley, Dred Scott, Sojourner Truth, Jim Beckwourth, Nat Turner, Frederick Douglass, Harriet Tubman, Booker T. Washington, George Washington Carver, and Scott Joplin. The poster was produced by Creative Teaching Press. The front of the board is covered in clear plastic which is taped on the board. This display board was created and used by Carlton A. Funn Sr. as part of his exhibition, "The History and Culture of Minorities", later named "National / International Cultural Exhibits ("NICE"). |
