Description |
Rectangular foamcore display board mounted with twelve black and white documents printed with the biographies of nineteen African Americans and two subjects. Each entry has at least one image and a biography history. The subjects covered are Emancipation Proclamation and the Jim Crow System. The biographies are of: Bill Pickett, Tiger Woods, Prince Hall, Jean Baptiste Point DuSable, James Brown, Oprah Winfrey, Jan E. Matzeliger, Harriet Tubman, John Johnson, P. B. S. Pinchback, Lewis H. Latimer, Frederick Douglass, Jack Arthur Johnson, Garrett Augustus Morgan, Paul Lawrence Dunbar, Granville T. Woods, Isaac Murphy, Benjamin Banneker, and Michael Jordan. The documents are affixed to the board with green tape. The board is covered in clear plastic which is taped at the back. This display board was created and used by Carlton A. Funn Sr. as part of his exhibition, "The History and Culture of Minorities", later named "National / International Cultural Exhibits ("NICE"). |
