Typewritten letter (note in upper left corner says its a copy) from Lewis Cass White to C.C. Glover, Esq. White writes that he's lived in DC since 1865 and describes the city as a cesspool, with rank canals and run down boarding houses. White is thanking Glover's efforts to make over the city and now describes it as beautiful, with many parks, streets, and drives. White then gives a brief history of the Battle of Fort Stevens. |
