Description |
Trifold rectangular cardboard display board mounted with three pages of a printed document entitled, "Cultural Encounters: Some Truths About The Melting Pot". This document was researched and developed by Loretta Webb, a Curriculum Specialist at the Program for Educational Opportunity, School of Education, University of Michigan. The document consists of a table that describes the different experiences of five different minority groups in the United States of America. The groups are described as Asian Americans, sub-divided into Chinese Americans and Japanese Americans, Black Americans, Mexican Americans (Chicanos), and Native Americans. The experiences are divided into "Mode of Entry", "Cultural Background", "Problems Encountered", "Adjustments", "Actual Gains", and "Future Aspirations". The documents are affixed to the board with beige tape and the front of the documents are covered in clear plastic. The front and back of all three panels are covered in wood design contact paper. The boards are adjoined with beige tape to form hinges. This display board was created and used by Carlton A. Funn Sr. as part of his exhibition, "The History and Culture of Minorities", later named "National / International Cultural Exhibits ("NICE"). |
