Description |
Rectangular foamcore display board mounted with poster entitled "2003 Black History Calendar: Carter G. Woodson, The Man Behind the Legacy" produced by the DC Lottery and Charitable Games Control Board. The calendar months are shown along the bottom edge of the poster. The main image on the poster is a sepia toned photographic image of Carter G. Woodson in a library. Below this are photographic images of the Tuskegee Airmen, the Buffalo Soldiers, Harriet Tubman, and an open book. The text is a brief biography of Woodson, including his establishment of the then "Negro History Week" in 1926. The poster is affixed to the board with black, red and green tape. The front of the board is covered in clear plastic and the back is covered in wood design contact paper. This display board was created and used by Carlton A. Funn Sr. as part of his exhibition, "The History and Culture of Minorities", later named "National / International Cultural Exhibits ("NICE"). |
