Rectangular paper poster entitled, "Women in American History". The poster consists of drawings of fourteen American women in three rows with a yellow background. The title is at the top of the board in blue text with an outline of the United States of America on the left and three yellow stars on the right. Each drawing has a caption with the woman's name, life dates, and a brief description of her achievements and role. The drawings are for Pocahontas, Abigail Adams, Deborah Sampson, Elizabeth Bayley Seton, Sacagawea, Sarah Hale, Sojourner Truth, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Maria Mitchell, Julia Ward Howe, Susan B. Anthony, Harriet Tubman, Clara Barton, and Emily Dickinson. The back of the poster is printed with teaching resources for the social studies theme unit "Women in American History". The text includes suggested classroom set-ups and displays, text and questions on women's rights and women in sports, and suggested activities in dramatics, art, and creative writing. Handwritten in black ink on the back of the poster is "1". The poster was produced by Instructional Fair, Inc., in 1994. This poster was used by Carlton A. Funn Sr. as part of his exhibition, "The History and Culture of Minorities", later named "National / International Cultural Exhibits ("NICE"). |
