Rectangular cardboard display board mounted with a poster entitled, "Outstanding Black Americans of the 20th Century: Public Service, Education, and Science". The poster has color drawings of eleven African Americans, some with contextual details of their achievements. On the left side of the poster are short biographies. The drawings and biographies are of the following: Mary McLeod Bethune, Percy Julian, Ralph Bunche, Dr. Charles Drew, Thurgood Marshall, Shirley Chisholm, Martin Luther King, Jr., Marva Collins, Colin Luther Powell, Rev. Jesse Jackson, and Guion Stewart Bluford, Jr. The poster was produced by Creative Teaching Press. The front of the board is covered in clear plastic which is taped on the board. This display board was created and used by Carlton A. Funn Sr. as part of his exhibition, "The History and Culture of Minorities", later named "National / International Cultural Exhibits ("NICE"). |
