Rectangular cardboard display board mounted with three black and white copies of newspaper articles about Bill Pickett. The first is an article entitled, "The Legendary Black Rodeo Cowboy" by Brian M. Walton and is a review of a book about Pickett. The second and third documents are from an article entitled, "The Pickett Family Roundup" and "A Cowboy & His Clan" by Stephanie Griest from "The Washington Post", dated July 3, 1995. The article describes a family reunion of Bill Pickett's family and includes black and white photographic images of people at the event. It also gives biographical information about Bill Pickett. The article is hand-annotated with red ink to highlight sections of the text. The front and back of the board are covered in wood design contact paper. The front of the board is also covered in clear plastic. This display board was created and used by Carlton A. Funn Sr. as part of his exhibition, "The History and Culture of Minorities", later named "National / International Cultural Exhibits ("NICE"). |
