Rectangular cardboard display board mounted with a poster entitled, "Women and the Civil War". The poster consists of eleven black and white photographic images and drawings of women each with a caption in a red rectangle. These images are of Harriet Beecher Stowe, Mary Ellen "Mammy" Pleasant, Sojourner Truth, Lucretia Mott, Angelina Grimke, Harriet Tubman, Dorothea Lynde Dix, Clara Barton, Belle Boyd, Loreta Velasquez, and Margaret Edwards Walker. In addition there are seven historical facts in blue text around the poster and in the center of the poster is the title in black and blue text with a central photographic image depicting a soldier, a woman and a group of children. The poster has a red border. The poster was produced by the National Women's History Project. The front of the board is covered in wood design contact paper and clear plastic which is taped at the back of the board. This display board was created and used by Carlton A. Funn Sr. as part of his exhibition, "The History and Culture of Minorities", later named "National / International Cultural Exhibits ("NICE"). |
