Description |
Rectangular cardboard display board mounted with a poster advertising a stamp issued by the U. S. Postal Service in 1991. The poster has a color photographic image of a pair of black button-up boots with a sheet of four of the Jan E. Matzeliger stamps partially inside the boots. In the background is a technical drawing. The stamp is part of the Black Heritage Series. The poster includes the text in white, "Honoring / the inventor who / revolutionized the / shoemaking industry". The vinyl numbers "1991" are affixed onto the poster on the boot heel. The poster is affixed to the board with tape. The front of the board is covered in clear plastic which is taped at the back of the board. This display board was created and used by Carlton A. Funn Sr. as part of his exhibition, "The History and Culture of Minorities", later named "National / International Cultural Exhibits ("NICE"). |
