Description |
Rectangular cardboard display board mounted with three posters from the Documentary Photo Aids (DPA) series entitled, "DPA Immigration Series". The posters are numbered 26, 27 and 24. The posters consist of cartoons or black and white photographic images with a caption below. The first poster has a cartoon entitled, "The Anti-Chinese Wall" depicting construction of a wall to bar Chinese immigration, the second is a cartoon entitled, "Looking Backwards" depicting sons of immigrants barring entry to new immigrants, and the third is a c.1889 photograph of an immigrant mother and her baby in a one room apartment. The front of the board is covered in clear plastic which is taped at the back. Handwritten in red ink on the back of the board is "4 of 7 // Immigration" and in black ink, "F. Immigration / (1882-1950)". This display board was created and used by Carlton A. Funn Sr. as part of his exhibition, "The History and Culture of Minorities", later named "National / International Cultural Exhibits ("NICE"). |
