Rectangular cardboard display board mounted with a poster entitled, "Women in Science & Mathematics". The poster consists of drawings and photographic images of twenty-one women with a caption of their name, life dates, and area of science. The poster also has drawings of mathematical equations and diagrams. The women depicted are Judith Resnick, Chien Shiung Wu, Ellen Swallow Richards, Maria Mitchell, Rachel Carson, Shirley Jackson, Diane Fossey, Barbara McClintock, Reatha Clark King, Gertrude B. Elion, Lydia Villa-Komaroff, Annie Jump Cannon, Jewel Plummer Cobb, Rosalyn Sussman Yalow, Edna Lee Paisano, Rita Levi-Montalcini, Grace Murray Hopper, Florence Bascom, Maria Goeppert Mayer, and Constance Tom Noguchi. The front of the board is covered in clear plastic which is taped at the back of the board. This display board was created and used by Carlton A. Funn Sr. as part of his exhibition, "The History and Culture of Minorities", later named "National / International Cultural Exhibits ("NICE"). |
