Rectangular cardboard display board mounted with a poster entitled, "A Salute to Black Scientists & Inventors". The poster has a brown background and has color drawings of eighteen African Americans with twelve contextual drawings of their achievements. The drawings are of the following: Benjamin Banneker, Lloyd Augustus Hall, Frederick McKinley Jones, Garrett A. Morgan, George Washington Carver, Joseph Lee, Andrew Jackson Beard, Granville T. Woods, Elijah J. McCoy, Jan Ernst Matzeliger, Percy L. Julian, Ernest Everett Just, Norbert Rilleux, Lewis Temple, Lewis Howard Latimer, Louis Tompkins Wright, James Forten, Sr., and Dr. Charles Richard Drew. The poster was produced by Empak Enterprises. The front of the board is covered in clear plastic which is taped on the board. There are sections of velcro on the back of the board. Handwritten on the back of the board is "5." At the back of the board there is an additional section of cardboard affixed to the bottom third of the board. This display board was created and used by Carlton A. Funn Sr. as part of his exhibition, "The History and Culture of Minorities", later named "National / International Cultural Exhibits ("NICE"). |
