Rectangular cardboard display board mounted with a poster entitled "African-Americans Gain Equal Rights Under The Law" with a brief historic caption. At the top of the poster is an illustration of an African American sailor receiving a medal, Jackie Robinson, Martin Luther King Jr., an African American soldier, an African American girl carrying a pile of books, and an African American boy and white girl working together on a science project. Below this is a timeline from 1941 to 1970s-Present listing nine events during this time period. The poster is part of a set of teaching aids entitled, "African-American History Timeline" produced by McDonald Publishing Co. The full set is shown in boards B2019.1.273 - B2019.1.276. The front of the board is covered with clear plastic which is taped at the back. The back of the board is marked with a handwritten, "4". This display board was created and used by Carlton A. Funn Sr. as part of his exhibition, "The History and Culture of Minorities", later named "National / International Cultural Exhibits ("NICE"). |
