Description |
Rectangular foamcore display board mounted with three cards entitled, "Leaders", "Inventors", and "Scientists". The cards are oval shape and each have three sepia toned photographic images of African Americans. The top card on the display board has a blue background and the text "LEADERS" in an orange oval at the bottom of the card. The images are of Martin Luther King, Jr., Harriet Tubman, and Colin Powell. The second card has a purple background and the text "INVENTORS" in an orange oval at the bottom of the card. The images are of Bessie Blount, Madam C. J. Walker, and Jan Matzeliger. The third card has a green background and the text "SCIENTISTS" in a red oval at the bottom of the card. The images are of Dr. Ida Gray Nelson, Dr. Charles R. Drew, and George W. Carver. The board is edged in black tape. This display board was created and used by Carlton A. Funn Sr. as part of his exhibition, "The History and Culture of Minorities", later named "National / International Cultural Exhibits ("NICE"). |
