The second document is entitled, "Ever Wondered About It?" by Misty Brown from the Afro and details the invention of the mailbox by Philip B. Downing including a drawing of his patent. The last page is from the "Mini Page" from "The Washington Post", dated February 4, 1990 and describes the suggestion by enslaved person Onesimus to stop the spread of smallpox by inoculation which was not then used by doctors until years later. The documents are affixed to the board with blue tape and the board is edged in white tape. The front of the board is covered in clear plastic which is taped at the back. This display board was created and used by Carlton A. Funn Sr. as part of his exhibition, "The History and Culture of Minorities", later named "National / International Cultural Exhibits ("NICE"). |
