Description |
Rectangular foamcore display board mounted with eight magazine pages relating to President Barack Obama. The first page consists of twenty-five newspaper covers announcing Barack Obama's election as president. The second page consists of a color photographic image of a young African American boy holding and kissing a cardboard cutout of Barack Obama with a crowd around him. The third page consists of an image of Martin Luther King, Jr. and Barack Obama with extracts from their speeches underneath. The fourth, sixth and seventh pages consist of color photographic images of people celebrating. The fifth page shows hands holding up an Obama poster with the text, "CALIFORNIA". The eighth page consists of a color photographic image of then President-Elect Barack Obama and then Vice President-Elect Joe Biden, on Election Day, November 4, 2008. The pages are affixed to the board with blue tape. The front of the board is covered in plastic which is taped at the back of the board. This display board was created and used by Carlton A. Funn Sr. as part of his exhibition, "The History and Culture of Minorities", later named "National / International Cultural Exhibits ("NICE"). |
