Description |
Rectangular cardboard display board mounted with a poster entitled, "Hawaiian Moon Calendar". The poster consists of a drawing of Maui, the trickster demi-God, holding up the sun, by Maui Loa. Around this circle are drawings of twelve different moons, including Ka'Aona, the moon of happiness. At the bottom of the poster is a description of the Legend that inspired the artist and an explanation of the imagery used. The poster was produced by ULA Publishing Co. The front and back of the board are covered in wood design contact paper and the front is also covered in clear plastic. This display board was created and used by Carlton A. Funn Sr. as part of his exhibition, "The History and Culture of Minorities", later named "National / International Cultural Exhibits ("NICE"). |
