Description |
Rectangular cardboard display board mounted with three posters entitled, "Angel Island", "Statue of Liberty", and "Ellis Island". The posters consist of multiple black and white photographic images. Below each poster is a blue printed document that gives a caption to each image. The posters have been hand-annotated in red ink to number the images to correspond with the captions. The images on the first poster depict Angel Island, including immigrants held at the Island and the buildings on the Island. The second poster consists of images of the Statue of Liberty, including during its construction, and drawings of the monument. The third poster shows immigrants at Ellis Island and a Park Service plaque. These posters are from the "Immigrants All... Americans All" poster series created by the Coordinating Committee of Ellis Island. The posters are affixed to the board with blue tape. The front and back of the board are covered in wood design contact paper and the front is also covered in clear plastic. Handwritten in black ink on the back of the board is, "F. / (1882-1950)". This display board was created and used by Carlton A. Funn Sr. as part of his exhibition, "The History and Culture of Minorities", later named "National / International Cultural Exhibits ("NICE"). |
