Rectangular cardboard display board mounted with a document entitled, "Peter Salem at Bunker Hill". The document consists of a black and white drawing from the "Battle of Bunker Hall" painting by Alonzo Chappel, with text below. The text gives examples of African Americans in the American Revolutionary War, including Crispus Attucks, Peter Salem, and Salem Poor, and includes a quote from George W. Williams' 1888 book, "A History of Negro Troops in the Rebellion". The document is part of "Compile-A-Topic No. 8" produced by DCA Educational Products, Inc. The front of the board is covered in clear plastic and the back is covered in black paper. This display board was created and used by Carlton A. Funn Sr. as part of his exhibition, "The History and Culture of Minorities", later named "National / International Cultural Exhibits ("NICE"). |
