Irregularly shaped cardboard display board mounted with a black and white photographic image, a printed document, and a newspaper article. The image depicts a young man and is printed with the title, "Maui Loa", and with the handwritten message "Mekealoha Pumehana [have fun] / Carlton A. Funn / Maui Loa 77". The printed document is entitled, "The Artist" and describes the work of Maui Loa. The newspaper cutting includes several articles about Hawaii and Hawaiians, including a black and white photographic image of Maui Loa's presentation of artwork to President Jimmy Carter via presidential special assistant Marilyn Haft. The front of the board is covered in clear plastic which is taped at the back. This display board was created and used by Carlton A. Funn Sr. as part of his exhibition, "The History and Culture of Minorities", later named "National / International Cultural Exhibits ("NICE"). |
