Rectangular cardboard display board mounted with six posters. The posters consist of a color photographic image of children, with the title in black text on a grey border. The posters are numbered and list the continent depicted. The first poster is entitled, "Boy and Camel in Tunisia" with the text "1. AFRICA" and an image that shows a boy seated on a camel. The second poster is entitled, "Group of Children in Morocco" with the text "2. AFRICA" and an image that shows a group of young people standing outside with mountains in the background. The third poster is entitled, "Mexican Children at a Street Market" with the text "3. AMERICA" and an image that shows two young girls holding a wooden box of fruit. The fourth poster is entitled, "Brazilian Indians in Ceremonial Dress" with the text "4. AMERICA" and an image that shows two young girls wearing feather headdresses, and necklaces of seeds and shells. The fifth poster is entitled, "Children on a Farm in Thailand" with the text "9. ASIA" and an image that shows two young children dressed in shorts with an adult working in the field behind them. The sixth poster is entitled, "Ceremonial Dance in Bali" with the text "10. ASIA" and an image that shows a girl holding a silver bowl during a dance. The posters are from a series entitled, "International Picture Charts" produced by Macmillian Publishers Ltd. The right side of the board is edged in red tape. The front of the board is covered in clear plastic which is taped at the back. The plastic does not extend to the right side of the board. Handwritten on the back of the board in red ink is the text, "FUNN". There are additional sections of cardboard taped to the back of the board to reinforce it. This display board was created and used by Carlton A. Funn Sr. as part of his exhibition, "The History and Culture of Minorities", later named "National / International Cultural Exhibits ("NICE"). |
