Black and white photograph of an African American police officer standing in front of a white man dressed in the American Nazi Party uniform and holding a sign. The police officer is protecting the man's right to protest. The protester's sign reads, "BLACK / FREEDOM / MEANS / RAPE." This phrase is attributed to George Lincoln Rockwell, Commander of the American Nazi Party from March 1958 to August 1967. The photograph is mounted on a cream-colored board. Handwritten in pencil on the board below the photograph is the text, "Steve Thomas '67." |
