Rectangular cardboard display board mounted with a poster advertising a stamp issued by the U. S. Postal Service in 1996. The poster has a central image of the stamp for Ernest E. Just, which consists of a black and white photographic image of Just. This stamp image is surrounded by smaller images of other stamps in the Black Heritage Series for: Carter G. Woodson, Harriet Tubman, James Weldon Johnson, Sojourner Truth, Martin Luther King Jr., Scott Joplin, A. Phillip Randolph, Mary McLeod Bethune, Jackie Robinson, Benjamin Banneker, Jean Baptiste Pointe Du Sable and Whitney Moore Young. The poster includes the blue text "ERNEST EVERETT JUST", white text, "Celebrate Black Heritage" and the yellow text, "THE U. S. POSTAL SERVICE SALUTES / ERNEST EVERETT JUST..." The poster is affixed to the board with blue tape. This display board was created and used by Carlton A. Funn Sr. as part of his exhibition, "The History and Culture of Minorities", later named "National / International Cultural Exhibits ("NICE"). |
