Description |
Rectangular cardboard display board mounted with a poster entitled, "Great Queens of Africa". The poster is part of a series created by Anheuser-Busch. The poster consists of text giving a brief biography of six African queens, six drawings of these queens by African American artists, and the calendar months for 1987 which indicate Martin Luther King, Jr.'s birthday, and Black History Month. The drawings are of: Queen Nzingha, Queen Makeda, Queen Amina, Queen Hatshepsut, Queen Cleopatra, and Queen Tiye. The poster has an orange background and there is a Budweiser logo and cart and horses at the bottom of the poster. The poster is bordered with a drawing of carved wood. The front of the board is covered in clear plastic which is taped at the back. This display board was created and used by Carlton A. Funn Sr. as part of his exhibition, "The History and Culture of Minorities", later named "National / International Cultural Exhibits ("NICE"). |
