The archive consists of material documenting the life and career of opera singer Ben Holt, Jr. The collection is largely the creation of his mother, Mayme Holt. It contains 21 numbered scrapbooks in spiral bound photo albums, housing photographs, documents, programs, letters and newspaper clipping dating in sequence from 1965 to 1990. There are ten additional 3-ring binders with document sleeves also containing similar material, one of which was created by Holt's Aunt. In addition to these volumes, there is a large volume of loose photographs, documents, newspaper clippings, theatre programs, musical scores, magazines and books. This archive also includes material relating to Ben Holt, Jr.'s legacy, which is largely the product of the work of his mother, Mayme Holt, in such organizations as The Ben Holt Memorial Society. |
