Rectangular cardboard display board mounted with a poster entitled, "A Salute to Historic Blacks In The Arts". The poster has a brown background and has color drawings of eighteen African Americans with eleven contextual drawings of their achievements. The drawings are of the following: Scott Joplin, Bessie Smith, Marian Johnson, Paul Robeson, Josephine Baker, Langston Hughes, Meta Vaux Warrick Fuller, Ira Frederick Aldridge, Alexander Pushkin, Lorraine Hansberry, Edward Kennedy Ellington, Henry Ossawa Tanner, Luther (Bill) Robinson, Florence Mills, Justin Holland, Alexander Dumas, James Baldwin, and W. C. Handy. The poster was produced by Empak Enterprises. Three of the sides of the board are edged with blue tape. The front of the board is covered in clear plastic which is taped on the back. Handwritten on the back of the board is "7." This display board was created and used by Carlton A. Funn Sr. as part of his exhibition, "The History and Culture of Minorities", later named "National / International Cultural Exhibits ("NICE"). |
